Hybrid Tea Rose Varieties

Hybrid Tea roses have the classic Rose shape – long pointed buds, and neat, conical blooms. Well-scented, they generally flower intermittently throughout the season as they may require rest period.

‘Alec’s Red’ has huge, very fragrant blooms, clear crimson in colour. It is a vigorous upright grower, reaching a height of 1.05 m (3ft).

‘Bonsoir’ has very full, peach-pink, well-formed, fragrant flowers. It is a vigorous, upright grower that dislikes rain. A good cutting and exhibition rose. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Double Delight’ is a promising, comparatively recent introduction from the USA, which has large, sweetly-scented flowers of a creamy blush colour with a red edge. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Embassy’ has large, full, scented flowers, light gold in colour, veined and edged with reddish pink. An upright grower, it has proved a very successful show rose. Grows to a height of 75 cm (2 ft).

‘Fragrant   Cloud’ has   full,   superbly   fragrant, scarlet-to-red flowers that are particularly shapely. Its growth is vigorous and upright and it has large leaves. A good exhibition Rose. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Grandpa Dickson’ has shapely flowers, full and yellow, lightening to creamy yellow, and becoming edged with reddish pink as the rose matures. A good, all-purpose Rose, it is a vigorous, upright grower. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Just Joey’ is a charming Rose of reasonable stature and vigorous growth. Its fully, loosely petalled blooms are coppery-fawn, veined red and fading towards the edges of the petals. Grows to a height of 75 cm (2|ft).

‘King’s Ransom’ was introduced 20 years ago and is still very popular. Its full blooms are rich yellow and fragrant. It is a vigorous grower, that branches and grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Mme Louise Laperriere’ is still being sold by Rose growers approximately 30 years after being intro­duced. It is a low-growing, spreading, moderately vigorous plant with rich dark crimson blooms that are full, very fragrant and shapely. It grows to a height of 60 cm (2 ft).

‘Mischief has full, fragrant, salmon-pink blooms that develop tinges of orange in autumn. A vigorous grower that branches in habit, it grows to a height of 1.05m (3 ft).

‘Mullard Jubilee’ is a vigorous, bushy Rose with large, brilliant cerise pink, fragrant blooms, very full and of good shape. Excellent for bedding, cutting and showing. Grows to a height of 1.2 m (4 ft). \

‘National Trust’ with full red flowers and very upright growth, makes a colourful contribution when a low-growing Rose is required. Also good for cut­ting. Grows to a height of 75 cm (2-J- ft).

‘Pascali’ is a vigorous, upright grower, considered to be one of the best ‘white’ roses. Its blooms are slightly shaded peach and are moderately full and shapely. It grows to a height of 1.05 m (3 ft).

‘Peace’ has long been popular. Its yellow flowers edged with cerise pink are very full and slightly fragrant. Vigorous in habit. Grows to a height of 1.2m (4ft).

‘Piccadilly’ is a brilliant scarlet, shading to yellow at the base, and pale yellow on the reverse. The blooms are moderately full and slightly fragrant. Vigorous and upright in habit. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Pink Favourite’ is a vigorous branching bush that produces bright rose-pink, high-centred, slightly fragrant flowers. Its foliage is especially beautiful. Grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft).

‘Prima Ballerina’, introduced more than 20 years ago, is still popular. The deep pink flowers are gloriously scented and the plant produces abundant dark green leaves. Very vigorous in habit. Grows to a height of 1.05 m (3 ft).

‘Princess’ has very large and full, slightly fragrant blooms, brilliant vermilion in colour. It is vigorous and bushy and grows to a height of 90 cm (3 ft) or more.

‘Red Devil’ is a superb Rose, excellent both in the garden and on the show-bench. Its fragrant blooms are enormous, very full and light red. Vigorous and bushy, it dislikes rain. Grows to a height of 1.2 m (4 ft).

‘Shot Silk’ was introduced more than 50 years ago but is still being sold. Its fully, very fragrant blooms are light carmine, shaded orange-salmon, with a golden base. It has vigorous bushy growth. Grows to a height of 60 cm (2 ft).

‘The Doctor’ has large, full, but rather loosely formed flowers, with extraordinarily big petals. The blooms are bright pink and have a delicious perfume. Of moderate vigour, branching in habit. Grows to a height of 60 cm (2 ft).
